In 2002, while most university students were focused solely on their degrees, Suseema Arambewela was sketching a different future. As a young student at the University of the Visual & Performing Arts in Colombo, he noticed something troubling — Sri Lanka's magnificent wedding traditions were slowly fading, diluted by modern shortcuts and lost authenticity.
Armed with his training in fine arts and deep appreciation for music, Suseema began documenting traditional Poruwa ceremonies, studying Kandyan dance choreography, and apprenticing with master craftsmen who built authentic wedding platforms. What started as academic curiosity became an obsession.
